Learning Expedition for E.LECLERC on Distribution in Thailand

A team of 17 leaders from the French Hypermarket brand E.Leclerc from the Reunion Island travelled to Bangkok with NEXSTEP.

The leaders interacted with the management team at one of the main Tesco Lotus Distribution Center in Thailand to learn about Tesco’s supply chain & distribution operations and strategy in Thailand. The leaders also visited EmQuartier, part of the Mall Group in Thailand; one of Thailand’s largest mall operators. Mall Group’s brands include: The Mall, Emporium, Siam Paragon, Power Mall, Gourmet Market, The Mall SkyPORT, EmQuartier, SportsMall, BeTrend, and BLÚPORT. They discovered innovative retail concepts as part of the Gourmet Market brand and engaged with the executive team at the Gourmet Market. Meaningful connections were developed as part of this Learning Expedition which included a private dinner on the Chao Phraya River and a special experience at Dine in the Dark.

Learning Exploration for the SME Center@SMCCI in Singapore to study the development of the Halal Market in Japan

NEXSTEP (Next Step Connections) and its partner Lotus Relocation co-created a successful study tour in Tokyo, Japan for 19 officers from the SME Centre @SMCCI (Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Enterprise Singapore in March 2019. The focus of the program was to explore Halal Food business opportunities in Japan as well as to understand the current stage of the market ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The participants met a variety of leading stakeholders including HonestBee, Wondertable, Nippon Asia Halal Association, Flexible Package Association, Wheaston, Tokyo Consulting Group, Zeroth AI, The Hayabusa Halal Market and the Muslim Omotenachi Center as well as Kevin Newman, a seasoned American Entrepreneur.

A lot of insights were exchanged during the five-day intensive program nourishing the participants with data and key information which will be shared back with Singapore SMEs who are interested and keen to do business with Japan particularly in the fields of Halal and Technology.

15 leaders of Adeo Group: the third largest player worldwide in the home improvement market travelled to Shanghai for a learning Expedition on New China Retail and physical experiences.

September 2019 - NEXSTEP organised a five-day learning expedition in Shanghai in for a team of leaders from the Omnichannel Community at Adeo. The 15 Leaders met TechCrunch China Founder, WeChat Experts, Sephora top management, China largest tech conglomerate: Netease, China Accelerator and immersed themselves in phygital retail experiences at Nike House of Innovation, Alibaba Hema Supermarkets and more. The group also had the opportunity to  attend the most anticipated outdoor musical show of the year from Zhang Yimou in Hangzhou.
